![]() There were too many times when the script called for fear from Hal when it should have called for courage. The idea of a Green Lantern is someone who can overcome great fear. There was way too much humor in situations that should have been serious. The script portrayed the character Hal Jordan as a funny guy, so that's how Ryan Reynolds played him. There's only one Wall.Īctors only follow the script. What an utter waste of a character who's a force of nature just to shoehorn her in. Keeping it Legion would have been wise, and giving Sinestro the shock of his life COULD have been the great start to his tragedy if he couldn't get that terror out of his head, but it wasn't integrated into our story very well.Īnd this didn't hurt anything ticket sales-wise, but I loathe that they made Waller from a badass black ops director into a biologist. Then we get Parallax smoking a dozen veteran lanterns who are going in prepared, but newbie Hal, caught off-guard, more or less handily tosses him into the sun and there we go. It's not really a challenge to his capabilities, or even his inexperience. runaway chopper at a party has tension, but it doesn't show us a ton about what Hal can do yet. ![]() We didn't get a lot of awe from the setpieces. Hector Hammond looked like he'd drop dead at any second they tried to split the difference between the Silver Age version and the van Sciver grotesque thing out of Lewis Carroll. I thought the powers were pretty well-executed: the smoothness with which they'd take flight was a nice contrast from Superman either running or doing his Neo spacetime squeeze thing.īut if I had to think of what other comments haven't already said: overall, it lacked a lot of purpose.
